Planning documents enhance transparency by providing detailed information on the economic policy actions taken by the Government. They present the country's economic outlook, as well as the objectives pursued and the tools chosen to achieve them.

Each planning document has a specific role within the budget process.

The recent Law No. 196 of 31 December 2009 (“public finance and accounting law”) streamlined and updated the cycle of planning documents, as well as their content and deadlines.
