Presentation of the Promoter Committee of “Banca del Mezzogiorno S.p.A.”

On 11 March 2010, at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Promoter Committee of “Banca del Mezzogiorno S.p.A.” has been presented before the Prime Minister, Mr. Silvio Berlusconi, the Ministers Giulio Tremonti and Claudio Scajola and the Director General of the Treasury, Vittorio Grilli. The bank has been established by several private shareholders. The Italian State, “idea-holder”, is the facilitator of this partners’ aggregation, has minority and limited stakes which will be divested within 5 years, as settled by law.
Banca del Mezzogiorno is a “second level bank” which will be operating through the network of branches of both Poste Italiane and the adhering cooperative credit banks (“BCC”) already operating in the Southern Regions.
