Directorate IV - Banking and Financial System-Legal Affairs
Directorate IV - Banking and Financial System-Legal Affairs - is responsible for the following:
- analysis, regulation and surveillance of the banking and financial system, the payments of financial markets and related intermediaries, including pension funds, financial intermediaries governed by the consolidated banking act (testo unico bancario) and the financial activities of insurance companies;
- relationships with independent and surveillance authorities;
- surveillance over banking foundations;
- surveillance, for which the Ministry is responsible on the basis of special regulations, over the Bank of Italy and other entities operating in sectors within the Department's area of responsibility;
- legal counsel and legislative guidance in matters falling within the Department's area of responsibility, including legal issues regarding State ownership of equity investments, asset-disposal processes and market discipline. Juridical international cooperation.
